My WORDS in 2015 moved me to Chicago, Memphis, and across the Caribbean. WORDS are tools that create opportunities and situations that help us to fulfill our purpose on Earth.
In August, a book I wrote about Amazing Musicwomen brought me to Chicago, where I spoke at the street-naming of Dinah Washington Way, a momentous event to celebrate one of our country’s most memorable song stylists.
In September, two books and a paper Blues Women: First Civil Rights Workers brought me to Memphis for the conference of ASALH – Association for the Study of African American Life and History, where I was a presenter and a featured author.
From October 12 to November 9, I was the featured Jazz vocalist at Jazz on 4 aboard the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas that sailed to Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Jamaica, and Cozumel.
All in all, WORDS have been my passport to many exotic places. In February, I was the guest of the Grand Bahama Jazz Society for a concert and workshop. WORDS (or in this case, LYRICS) are powerful!
IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS THE WORD and it was GOOD!
