Remember: You have the Power – the Vote. Cherish it, Protect it, and Use it – Methodically, Strategically and Powerfully. ~ Ralph Hogges

Know and understand the power you have. We have overcome the racist use of Poll Taxes and the Literacy Test used by white racists and segregationists to prevent us from voting. You have the Power; you have the vote. Use your anger and rage to organize and mobilize the most massive and powerful voting effort in American history in the November 2020 presidential election. ~ Ralph Hogges

960x0Greetings fellow members of our Writers Group,
As your President of the Writers Group of South Florida, I have a responsibility, an obligation, to speak up and speak out about the police officers’ malicious and outrageous killings of our young black men in America.

Dr. Ralph Hogges

I was born and raised in the State of Georgia, during the era of the racist segregationist Governor Lester “Ax Handle” Maddox, and educated in the State of Alabama at Tuskegee Institute, during the era of the racist segregationist Governor George Wallace whose motto was “Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!”

I was a product of the sixties’ civil rights movement, led by the words of civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer who declared, “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.” The movements’ urgent, firm and absolute resolve was “Ain’t gonna let nobody turn us around” as we demanded freedom, justice, and equality.
So, now, in this era of 2020, let me share with you what this killing of our young black men is all about. It’s not very complicated.
  1. First and foremost, it is about Power and Control.
  2. White Power and Control are used to Protect and Promote White Privilege. It is enforced by police officers.
  3. Their greatest fear is the changing racial demographics in the United States wherein black and brown people are growing numerically substantially more and faster than the white population. As black and brown people become the majority voters, mostly Democrats, fear, hate, and violence against them escalates. It is intentional, methodical, and strategic.
  4. If you are a bible reading person, you should remember wherein the leader put out the order to “Kill the boys.” Obviously, if you kill the boys, you cut off and stop the births. So, there you have it. That’s the death sentence of young black men in America, today.
  5. So, how do you justify the killing of young black men? It’s simple, you promote suspicion and fear of them. You can disagree with my statement but the fact is that many current laws protect the killers.

To my brothers and sisters throughout the United States, I understand your anger and rage about the vicious killings of George Floyd and many others. I admire and support your peaceful protests. Given what we should have learned over the years, I offer these suggestions:
  1. Don’t let the terrorist groups and white supremacists exploit and derail your peaceful protests.
  2. Racists in America are not going to volunteer to give up their privileges.
  3. Just because people know better, it does not mean that they are going to do better. If their minds are already made up, they are not going to change.
  5. Collectively, we have the power to win the White House and a majority in the U.S. Senate and maintain control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
  6. The question is: Are you going to use that voting power?
  7. Remember: You have the Power to Control and Eliminate the ravages of racism and discrimination in the United States and create, mandate, and enforce Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities for all in America.
  8. The time is now. Use your Power.
